The best places to travel in June are Iceland and Alaska under the midnight sun, the Swiss Alps at the start of hiking season, Peru in dry-season prime, and East Africa as safari season opens.
June belongs to the high latitudes. Iceland, Alaska, and Ireland hit their stride with nearly endless daylight, the Swiss Alps melt out into hiking season, and the northern national parks of the American West fully open. If a destination spends half the year frozen or dark, June is when it repays the wait.
It is also the start of the great dry seasons. East Africa's safari conditions sharpen as the land dries and the migration herds push north. Peru's Andean skies go reliably clear.
