Spring is South Carolina at full charm. From March through May, Charleston's window boxes and garden districts erupt, plantation azaleas peak, the Lowcountry sits in the 70s F (21 to 26C), and the events calendar stacks up: the Cooper River Bridge Run in early April, golf's RBC Heritage on Hilton Head in mid April, and Spoleto Festival USA filling Charleston's churches and theaters from late May into June. Summer is beach season, and the state does it well, from Myrtle Beach's 60 miles of boardwalk energy to Kiawah's quiet dunes, but it comes with real heat: 90F (32C) days, tropical humidity, and afternoon thunderstorms. Fall is the underrated rematch, with warm ocean into October and golden marsh light, shadowed only by peak hurricane season in September, which calls for refundable bookings rather than avoidance. Summer

Fall
Spring's quiet twin. September stays summery with warm ocean and thinning crowds; October and early November are gorgeous, with oyster-roast season starting as the air dries out. September is peak hurricane statistics: book refundable and watch forecasts, but do not write the month off.
Winter
Mild and underpriced. Days in the 50s and 60s F (10 to 18C), camellias blooming by January, and Charleston's restaurants at their most bookable. Not beach weather, but a fine city-and-golf season, and the value peak for the whole state.
